Life in the 21st century moves at a pace that makes it nearly impossible to find enough time for reading. A lot of effort has gone into finding a solution to this dilemma and everyone who loves reading is grateful for the services provided by the Audible platform. On the platform, you can purchase, download, and listen to audiobooks using any chosen device of your choice. This has certainly addressed the issue that has been raised by a seemingly insufficient amount of time for reading but how does Audible work?
How Audible Works
Audible is basically a specialized software that is designed to help people enjoy reading their favorite books in audio form. To achieve this, Audible offers its services on a paid subscription basis which make up the four ways to gain access to the platform and they include:
- Gold Monthly: This plan basically gives you access to one title a month. That is, it allows you to read one book a month and you pay once a month
- Platinum Monthly: Like the gold monthly plan, you also pay once a month but this time, you get 2 credits equivalent to 2 book titles a month
- Gold Annual Special: As named, you get access to 12 credits but payments are made upfront
- Platinum Annual: This plan makes it possible for the subscriber to be able to read 24 titles. For this plan, the same upfront payment guarantees access.
Audible also allows you to use unused credits in the following month. However, this privilege does not extend beyond one year and a 30% discount is available for only members once their credit expires. More so, other than the titles that have been converted from paperback to audio, Audible provides original content with unlimited streaming access, including monthly and daily deals with almost 80% discount daily.
What Do You Need To Access Audible?
Audible can be accessed easily using any search engine on the internet however it is more financially prudent and time-saving to install the app on your android phone, iOS phone, or windows device because it is compatible with any of the aforementioned components.
More so, new members who don’t have an Amazon account will need to create one. This is because Audible has Amazon as its parent company. Signing up gives you free access to the app’s contents, including a free audiobook and 2 Audible originals, over a 30-day period.
Once you get access to the Audible app, you’ll discover a menu at the top of your device’s screen. The “Browse” option gives you the freedom to choose titles from a variety of genres including, but not limited to romance, comedy, and other titles which are suitable for kids.
However, after the 30-day free trial, subsequent use of the app involves paid subscription. It could be monthly which guarantees the gold credits or the platinum credits. One credit entitles you to one audiobook which can be exchanged for a title of your choice at no extra cost.
Cost Of Audible Membership Plans
The amount spent on Audible subscriptions is determined by choice. You can decide to subscribe to any of the available plans for the stipulated prices which include:
- Gold Plan: this can be accessed for $14.95 and gives you one credit per month
- Platinum Plan: this can be accessed for $22.95 and provides 2 credits per month
- Gold Annual Special Plan: this offers 12 credits worth $9.96 per credit in the first year but rises to $12.46 the following year thereby amounting to $119.50 in year one and $149.50 in year two
- Platinum Annual Plan: this offers 24 credits that are worth $229.50
Can I Return A Book On Audible?
Making mistakes when selecting titles to read is inevitable – you may desire a particular title but end up downloading a different one. Also, you can begin reading a story only to discover that it wasn’t what you hoped it would be. If any of this happens, do not fret, you can return the audiobook, retrieve your credits and utilize them on a more preferable choice.
To achieve this, log on to your Audible account and click on “Account Details” from the drop-down menu below your name and click on “Purchase History” to view all the books you’ve purchased previously. You will also get to see the “Return Order” button on the right side of the title you wish to exchange.
Go ahead to click on the Return Order button and your credit will be retrieved and restored to you immediately. Now you have your credits back, you can select any title you wish.
How Do You Cancel An Audible Membership?
If you’ve made a long-term commitment to using Audible, there is no need to keep renewing your subscription. The app’s systems take care of that for you. However, if you want to take a break from Audible or permanently cancel your membership, there is a simple way to ensure that happens.
First, log on to your Audible “Account Details” page then go to “Account Settings” where you will be led to the “Cancel my membership” option. Clicking on this option reveals a set of on-screen instructions to help you achieve your aim.
Please note that any unused credits become invalid upon the cancellation of an existing subscription. However, any audiobooks paid for on Amazon, either during the free trial or otherwise, remain part of your library even after the end of your subscription.
Sounds easy, doesn’t it?
