Top 10 Jujutsu Kaisen Characters Who Are Females

Jujutsu Kaisen characters feature in the Japanese action/supernatural manga series Jujutsu Kaisen which was created by Gege Akutami and has been serialized since 2018 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. As soon as the first manga series was released, it became an instant hit, and in light of this, Studio MAPPA created an anime adaptation of this series in 2020. This article highlights the ten best Female Jujutsu Kaisen characters.

The anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen gained enormous popularity even with the release of just one season and is currently regarded as a modern Shonen anime due to its enormous success. Every successful Shonen story needs a strong cast of characters, but Jujutsu Kaisen stands out from many other successful ones by treating its female and male cast members equally.

The first season’s female Jujutsu Kaisen characters are rich, memorable, and completely developed individuals with unique objectives. This is significant to notice since female characters in shonen are frequently created solely to aid in the development of male characters. But in Jujutsu Kaisen, female characters are just as important as everyone else.

Jujutsu Kaisen Female Characters

Jujutsu Kaisen is popularly recognized for its distinctive character designs and range of personalities. One of the main factors contributing to this series’ popularity and acceptance is its female characters. The Jujutsu Kaisen female characters have been shown to be incredibly powerful, highly fascinating, and unforgettable.

They are the ideal waifu material because, in addition to their incredible strength, they also have stunning beauty and lethal personalities.

Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen is set to be released in 2023, but despite the fact that the show has barely aired its first season, fans are already impressed with the fascinating Jujutsu Kaisen female characters. Below is our list of the ten best-known Jujutsu Kaisen female characters.

1. Maki Zenin

Known as the strongest female character in Jujutsu Kaisen, Maki Zenin, the daughter of Ogi Zenin and the twin sister of Mai Zenin, is a second-year student at the Tokyo Jujutsu High school, and a Major character in the series. She was born into one of the three great sorcerer families in the Jujutsu world. But despite being born into a great sorcerer family, she was born without cursed energy.

The Zenin clan is well-known for its extensive influence, strong members, and internal power-based discrimination. She and her twin Mai were condemned to a life of servitude when the clan elders realized she lacked the cursed energy. Maki fled the Zenin clan because she wasn’t happy, but not before making a promise to the leader that she would come back one day and take away his position. She enrolled at Jujutsu High shortly after that confrontation.

The Zenin family was unaware that Maki’s absence of cursed energy was a result of a heavenly agreement that gave her exceptional physical prowess instead. Due to years of training, Maki has attained an unrivaled level of mastery with cursed instruments, enhanced physical strength, and lightning-quick reflexes.

Many underdog tales have been told in anime, but Maki Zenin’s is unquestionably one of the best. 17-year-old Maki is very assertive and belligerent, but that’s only because she’s been forced to be that way since she was young. Maki has an intimidating personality. She puts a lot of effort into ensuring that all of her friends become stronger since she genuinely cares about their well-being.

The quantity of cursed energy a person possesses in the domain of jujutsu sorcery may very well determine whether or not they survive a battle with an opponent. Despite not possessing any cursed energy, Maki has demonstrated her proficiency to the point where she may be grouped with first-class sorcerers.

At the conclusion of Season 1, her skill as a sorcerer was sufficient to earn her a first-grade recommendation, bringing her one step closer to her ambition of becoming the ruler of the Zenin clan.

Despite having a burning desire to lead her clan, Maki doesn’t allow that ambition to control her. Her personality extends well beyond her willingness to lead Zenin. Maki is a highly courageous and independent person who can advance on her own without depending on others. Second only to Yuji in terms of physical strength and possessing a strong-willed personality, she is also capable of using a number of strong cursed weapons. Maki sliced Mai’s bullet at close range to display her blazing speed and quick thinking, showing her incredible physical prowess, stamina, and intelligence in her battle with her twin.

Maki’s story and objective are similar to the shonen model for male main characters: the underdog who vows to someday rise to the top of the society they were rejected from. Usually, these male characters are the ones that appear in complex, high-stakes tales, but by switching the genders in Maki, Jujutsu Kaisen gives a classic tale a fresh new perspective.

2. Miwa Kasumi

The adorable Miwa Kasumi is one of the most underrated Jujutsu Kaisen characters. Also aged 17, she is considered the best Jujutsu Kaisen waifu and a second-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High school.

Miwa’s predisposition to seeing herself as useless plays a part in how she comes off as underrated. However, her teammates value her and appreciate her ability. One of her teammates, Kamo, said that he’d be able to breathe a little easier if Miwa were present when facing the special grade cursed spirit Hanami. Despite the fact that Miwa has a lot of self-doubts, she can handle herself in a fight and is also a good friend that you can count on.

Although Miwa’s backstory and motivation for becoming a jujutsu sorcerer are a little less interesting than others, they are still valid reasons. She is training to become a jujutsu sorcerer to earn money and support her family since she hails from a poor home.

Jujutsu High rates Miwa Kasumi as a grade 3 jujutsu sorcerer in terms of physical prowess. Although she lacks an innate skill, she can sense curses and uses her barrier skills to dispel curses. Kasumi can also use a sword proficiently as her primary weapon in combat. Her two most potent techniques are “Batto Sword Drawing” and “New Shadow Style.”

Although Miwa isn’t the strongest character, her combat abilities are nevertheless remarkable. She was able to fight Maki to a point before being outwitted, which was an achievement in itself. Despite not possessing a cursed technique, she is nevertheless capable of manipulating cursed energy and building a rudimentary domain. Usually, anyone who enters its limit cannot flee her attack.

Her decisiveness stands in sharp contrast to other female shonen characters, who are frequently written (stereotypically) to allow their emotions to cloud their sound judgment. When compared to their male counterparts, these characters are frequently criticized for lacking the same level of conviction. However, Miwa is an exception.

Even while Miwa exhibits the same exuberance and vivacity as any other shonen “waifu,” these qualities never go in the way of her responsibilities as a pupil or jujutsu sorceress. She is a big fan of Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer, but it didn’t stop her from giving him a harsh warning for disrespecting her principal. Miwa wasn’t sure it was the best course of action when she and her classmates were given the order to kill Yuji. She still attempted a killing strike, although hesitating a little in the moment of truth.

She’s a lovely, diligent young lady with a very modest and respectful disposition. Miwa quickly became a fan-favorite Jujutsu Kaisen girl thanks to her endearing nature.

3. Mai Zenin

Mai Zenin, the twin sister of Maki Zenin, is a hardcore tsundere waifu, a second-year student at the Kyoto Jujutsu High School and a grade 3 jujutsu sorcerer.

Despite the fact that Mai is Maki’s twin, they don’t get along. In fact, Mai makes every effort to minimize their resemblance by dressing differently and styling her hair in a different way. She even applied to the rival school that Maki attends.  Mai constantly makes fun of her sister for lacking cursed energy and appears to enjoy humiliating her in front of other people. Her behavior may appear to be merely petty sibling rivalry, but it truly stems from hurt.

Elders in her clan pushed Mai to train as a jujutsu sorcerer. In the wake of Maki’s departure from the Zenin clan to become a sorcerer, they started to harass Mai solely because of her connection to Maki. In order for the clan not to be shamed, the elders forced Mai to become a sorcerer after realizing Maki’s dream of becoming a sorcerer was becoming a reality.  After being defeated by Maki in the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen, Mai revealed her backstory in a moment of weakness.

Although having to compete with her sister made her life more difficult, that was not the reason she despised her. She resented her twin because Maki broke a promise she made never to leave her when they were little.

Mai had a morbid fear of even the most harmless cursed spirits and had always been a soft-spoken child and took the elders’ self-centered decisions with dignity, even though she knew she’d have to deal with them often as a sorcerer.

Mai has a very rough but straightforward personality, with expertise in the use of snipers and pistols and with great precision. She had to bear responsibility for her tribe after Maki abandoned her family when she was a toddler. Causing Mai’s resentment towards Maki and frequently referring to her as weak and useless.

Compared to other sorcerers, Mai has a low level of cursed energy, yet she still has some special skills. Construction is Mai’s strongest ability, and with this ability, she can use her cursed energy to make a bullet that she inserts into her pistol.

The 17-year-old also demonstrated that she is as capable a sorcerer as well as any of her schoolmates, despite having relatively little cursed energy. She never once voiced dissatisfaction with the hand she was dealt or demanded that someone else on her team look after her. Despite disliking her profession, Mai was determined to give it her all and was the furthest thing from dead weight. Whether she is being driven by a sense of obligation to her clan or a need to uphold a certain standard for herself and Maki, regardless, Mai refuses to allow her worries or her situation to dictate her story.

4. Nobara Kugisaki

Regarded as the best of the Jujutsu Kaisen girls, 15-year-old Nobara Kugisaki is a first-year student at the Tokyo Jujutsu High School, a major character in the series and a grade 3 jujutsu sorcerer who is studying under Gojo Satoru.

Nobara’s reason for wanting to become a jujutsu sorcerer is quite simple: she wants to live in Tokyo, and enrolling in Jujutsu High was the quickest way for her to fulfill this goal.

The first time Nobara had ever shown anything resembling admiration for someone outside herself was when she heard Maki’s backstory in Jujutsu Kaisen. Nobara is a confident young lady with unyielding pride. Although she can be considered arrogant, she is however fiercely committed to upholding her commitment to herself.

Nobara Kugisaki is adamant about never compromising any aspect of who she is for anyone or anything. Despite giving off the impression of being highly conceited and vain—a stereotypical high school “mean girl” who is fixated on her appearance and devoid of empathy, she only shows her devotion and loyalty after getting to know Yuji and Fushiguro.

Numerous times throughout the series, Nobara demonstrated that her skills are on par with those of high-class jujutsu users. Even before she came to the school, she was quite skilled at expelling curses with her natural talent. Thanks to her innate “Straw Doll Technique,” she can also send damage to both her straw doll and her opponents by channeling her cursed energy.

The hammer, straw doll, hairpin, and rubber mallet are Nobara’s curse tools as she possesses a great amount of cursed energy, which she has a good grasp on.

Her interaction with Maki, though simple, proved to be beneficial to the plot of the series because, unlike most forced women rivalry in other anime series, there was no forced rivalry between Nobara and Maki. Female mentor-mentee relationships are uncommon in shonen, but these two have a wonderful dynamic that should only get better as the series progresses.

5. Momo Nishimiya

Another strong female jujutsu Kaisen character, although short in height, is the 18-year-old Momo Nishimiya. She ranked 35th in the manga’s 1st character popularity poll. A third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High, Momo cares a lot about her physical appearance.

Despite her family background being shrouded in mystery, she was enrolled in Kyoto High due to her family lineage. However, her father is of American-Japanese origin. Momo has a quiet disposition and is always influenced by her friends.

Her unique curse skill allows her to serve as a scouter for sorcerers. Using “Tool Manipulation,” she is able to effortlessly maneuver her broom. She uses this technique to stay above the battlefield and mark the location of targets. Additionally, she also attacks her opponents with her broom. She is one of the strongest Jujutsu Kaisen female characters thanks to her Tool manipulation skill.

In a contest against students from Tokyo High, Momo displays her impeccable skill. Her ability to locate Yuji during this match is a good example of her spying skills.

6. Tsukimi Fushigoro

16-year-old Tsumiki is Megumi Fushiguro’s stepsister and Toji Fushigoro’s stepdaughter, who only made an appearance in Megumi’s flashback during the Death Painting Arc. She is one of the good-looking female characters in the series and an endearing young lady who sincerely loves her brother. When she and her classmates from Saitama Urami East Junior High visited the Yasohachi Bridge, she met a cursed spirit on the bridge, became its victim, and went into a coma.

In the first season of the show, Tsumiki is not depicted using any cursed skills or abilities. Tsumiki, although a very brief character, plays a very important role in the life of Megumi, who is a first-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

7. Mei Mei

Mei Mei is one of the supporting characters in the series, a grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer and one of the most beautiful female Jujutsu Kaisen characters. Mei is believed to be about 33 years old and works as a jujutsu sorcerer solely for financial gain. She gets paid to fight and would only agree to engage in any battle activity unless it has a significant monetary value. A former student of Tokyo Jujutsu High and Satoru Gojo’s senpai, Mei is insightful and maintains her calm even in the face of adversity.

Although Mei’s abilities are yet to be fully explored since there has only been one season, she possesses a great deal of cursed energy. The Cursed Technique of Mei Mei is a rather straightforward one. She is able to imbue crows with her cursed energy and command them even from a distance, thanks to a technique known as Black Bird Manipulation.

A giant battle axe-shaped cursed tool is Mei Mei’s weapon of choice, which she maneuvers skillfully and prefers to finish off conflicts quickly rather than drag them out. However, the most powerful weapon in her arsenal is the Bird Strike. This is because, apart from Gojo Satoru, no one has ever survived a Bird Strike.

Mei Mei is well known among her peers as a very strong jujutsu sorcerer, and her bird strike is one of the most lethal skills in the series, despite the fact that she lacks a traditionally offensive cursed technique.

8. Akari Nitta

Akari is an ex-Yankee, the older sister of Arata Nitta, and a minor character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. She works as Tokyo Jujutsu High’s assistant manager, and like any other manager, she always wears a businesslike black suit. Of all the female Jujutsu Kaisen characters, her personality is rated as one of the cutest, with her charming and devoted nature.

Akari is a charming and passionate young woman who is devoted to serving sorcerers and is very responsible in carrying out her duties. She is in charge of directing jujutsu sorcerers to the location of their victims and giving them knowledge of curses.

In addition to being a skilled driver, Akari enjoys customizing/modifying cars.

9. Shoko Leiri

Ranking 27th place in the Manga’s first character popularity poll, Shoko is a secondary character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, the only doctor at Tokyo Jujutsu High with a high level of stress. Her carefree yet unemotional personality makes her one of the most attractive female jujutsu kaisen characters.

During high school, she attended the same class as Gojo Satoru, and in just two years, Shoko cheated her way to becoming a licensed doctor.

Shoko is a sincere yet mysterious woman who only wants to do her job well. Due to her workaholic nature and high levels of stress, which even shows in her eye bags from lack of sleep, the 29-year-old consumes a lot of alcohol.

She also possesses an amazing “reverse cursed” skill that allows her to heal other people, and thanks to her healing abilities, Shoko is among the most important members of the jujutsu sorcerers. She’s also neutral/non-political rather than affiliating with the upper echelon or Gojo.

10. Utahime Lori

31-year-old Utahime ranks 21st in the Manga’s first character popularity poll. And although she appears in the series as a minor character, she is the most well-liked teacher at Kyoto Jujutsu High. Utahime is adored by her Kyoto students and is a jujutsu sorcerer in the rank of semi-grade 1.

Since she hasn’t engaged in a significant battle, the extent of her abilities is unknown for now. Utahime has a nice, curvy physique and is about average height. Although the right half of her face is scarred, she is still considered pretty.

She frequently wears a classic white Miko in addition to having a really cool and intelligent personality. Gojo Satoru stresses her out a lot, and she hates conversations with him. Her short screen time makes it impossible to now determine her power or techniques.
