Merrianne Jessop was married to the controversial Warren Jeffs when she was only 12 years old. She is the youngest of his 78 wives and was physically abused by the self-proclaimed prophet until he was arrested and charged with the crime. After Jeff’s arrest, Merrianne was placed into foster care and then taken in by her cousin, a former member of The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. However, she soon ran off and was last seen back at her compound in Texas.

Merrianne Jessop was thought to have returned to a ranch in Texas in August 2009. It has since remained the final known whereabouts of Warren Jeffs’s former wife. Before then, Merrianne was taken to a foster home, immediately after Warren Jeffs was arrested.

However, in August 2009, she would escape from the foster home and returned to the farm in Texas, which would be her last known whereabouts. Similarly, it is not known if Merrianne remarried or decided to remain single. She’s relatively remained out of the spotlight, and nothing has been heard of her so far.

Merrianne’s late husband, Warren Jeffs, was infamous for wedding underage young girls, assaulting his followers, and physically abusing kids. And Merrianne was one of his victims in this regard. However, Warren Jeffs’ subsequent arrest and prosecutions left many wondering what happened to Merrianne Jessop, his former wife.

Although her exact date of birth is unknown, Merrianne Jessop is believed to be 29 years old as of 2023. Jeffs wedded her in 2006 when she was just 12 years old. Using this parameter, Jessop’s age will be 29 in 2023, and therefore, she was born in 1994.

Merrianne Jessop is one of the 78 wives of the self-proclaimed prophet Warren Jeffs. He is a popular figure in The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). He married Jessop in July 2006, when she was just 12 years old along with Veda Keate, who was about the same age as her.

Warren Jeffs took both ladies along with about 76 others in, in what he described as a “divine marriage.” However, he was reported to have mistreated them during their brief stint together.

The story began after his father died in 2002, and Jeffs took the position of prophet throughout the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And after gaining the role, he went on to perpetrate odious deeds. He started marrying underage ladies, abusing and rapping partners, and sexually abusing children.

However, Peacock’s book titled ‘Preaching Evil: A Wife on the Run With Warren Jeffs,’ documented how he was finally arrested and prosecuted for sexually harassing the two teenage girls. Those girls were believed to be Merrianne Jessop and Veda Keate. However, at the point when she was rescued by investigators, Merrianne guaranteed that her wedding to Jeff was not a wrongdoing. More so, she contended that the relationship was legal regardless of the way he treated them.

Warren Jeffs is the “president and prophet” of the FLDS—even while in jail. He inherited the position after his late father, Rulon Jeffs, passed away in 2002. When Warren assumed the leadership position, he had numerous wives, which he kept increasing until he was arrested.

And by the time he rose to authority as the president of the FLDS, it was believed that Jeffs already had over 20 wives. However, by the time he was arrested, it was reported that he had 78 wives—twenty-four of which were under the age of seventeen—in addition to his one legal spouse, according to reports from the Washington Post.

As per the report, Warren took control of members’ finances and cut them off from the outside world. In addition, the religious man sexually assaulted young girls and ‘divided’ them for his older male followers for marriage in exchange for their undying loyalty. Besides, in the docuseries, a former US Attorney Special Prosecutor disclosed that Jeffs was “involved in conducting the marriages of over 67 underage girls to FLDS men.”

Warren Jeffs was Sentenced to Life in Prison

Notwithstanding, Warren Jeffs was sentenced to life in prison, in 2011,  with an additional 20 years for sexually assaulting two girls, among other charges.  In May 2006, Warren was placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. And finally, he was arrested in Las Vegas in August 2006 with a couple of cell phones, wigs, and disguises, and carrying $55,000 in cash.

But it wasn’t until August 2011 that his trial took place, in San Angelo, Texas,—where he represented himself. He was, however, convicted on two counts of sexual assault of a minor. His life sentence didn’t come as a shock to many due to the many overwhelming crimes he committed.

Currently, the self-proclaimed prophet is being held in the Louis C. Powledge Unit in Palestine, Texas. Furthermore, he has been deemed not eligible for parole until at least July 22, 2038. However, he’s remained in jail ever since, with no news of a potential pardon.

Did Merrianne Jessop Have Any Children With Warren Jeffs?

As per sources, Merrianne Jessop has no kids with Warren Jeffs. On the contrary, when police found and rescued them, another survivor, Veda Keate, as of then already had a child. Furthermore, they discovered Warren was the father of her child after a DNA test was carried out. Since the case was solved, Keate has been, to a large extent, overlooked by the media.

Merrianne Jessop was saved from Warren Jeffs when specialists found data that he had physically attacked the underage young lady. Warren physically harassed Merrianne, as evidently seen on a 14-minute audiotape revealed to the police by the investigators.

They likewise found that he was partaking in a sex meeting in the farm’s sanctuary vault with several underage ladies. In addition, Jeffs had sexual intercourse with one of the teens during a wedding function while the other spouses watched on, as per one of the witnesses.
