Alongside the likes of Orochimaru and Jiraiya, Tsunade formed a formidable fighting team. That team was able to defend the village of Konoha during the second great shinobi war and earned themselves the title of the legendary Sannin. Unfortunately, the war cost Tsunade some of her loved ones, and she became disillusioned. She abandoned her responsibilities for a period of time.

Tsunade Graduated from Ninja Academy at the Age of Six and Was Paired on the Same Team as Orochimaru and Jiraiya

Tsunade’s parents died at an early age, and her grandparents raised her. Just like other children in Konoha, Tsunade was enrolled in the ninja academy at a young age. She proved to be quite exceptional and graduated at the mere age of six; an age when most were still starting in the ninja academy. Upon graduating from the ninja academy, Tsunade was placed under the mentorship of Hiruzen Sarutobi, with Orochimaru and Jiraiya as her teammates.

Tsunade initially has a cold relationship with her teammates but eventually warms up to them. The relationship isn’t all smooth, though. For instance, Jiraiya often teased Tsunade for being flat-chested, but she later retaliated by punching him.

What Happened to Lady Tsunade?

Lady Tsunade quit combat and medical services after the great losses she sustained in the second great Shinobi war. Despite her exploits, she suffered the loss of her loved ones. Amongst them was her younger brother – Nawaki, and her boyfriend, Dan Katō. The losses left her highly disillusioned and fearful of blood. She, therefore, decides to leave Konoha as well as abstain from all medical and ninja activities.

Tsunade did this for several years, but by the time she is in her late 40s and 50s, Jiraiya and Naruto come looking for her to convince her to become the Hokage. Tsunade initially rejected their proposal as a fool’s idea. Naruto, however, convinces her that the fact that a dreamer dies doesn’t mean that the dream has to die.

He also convinces her that the fact that an objective seems impossible doesn’t mean that it is necessarily so. All this gives Tsunade a change of heart, and she agrees to become the fifth Hokage of Konoha. She reigned for several years, during which she worked hard to protect the village. She also encouraged people to pursue their dreams. Tsunade is able to have a good reign and retires from office alive.

Does Tsunade Die?

Despite all the major battles that she faced, Tsunade does not die in Naruto. She remains alive and makes it as a minor character in the Naruto sequel, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. This is quite a feat, given that she fought several battles and faced off against fearsome enemies as a ninja.

There is also the fact that most Hokages die in service and never retire alive. Tsunade was an exception, as she was able to retire alive.
