What Disease Does Keanu Reeves Have and Does He Smoke?

For instance, at some point during the filming of John Wick 2, Keanu Reeves was down with flu and a 103-degree fever. He did not allow this to deter him but went ahead to shoot the iconic nightclub scene, which saw him fight his way through a club to get to his target. As the director remarked, they couldn’t get Reeves to sit down, and he shot take after take despite his illness. What’s more, due to his energy, even those on set couldn’t figure out that he was sick.

Also, while filming movies such as Speed and Point Break in the early 90s, Keanu Reeves suffered a neck injury, and his condition worsened to the extent that he was losing balance and sensation in his limbs. He consulted medics and was diagnosed with spinal stenosis.

He had to wear a neck brace and ultimately underwent surgery. Through it all, he continued training for his next film, The Matrix, which turned out to be a blockbuster action franchise as well.

Keanu Reeves has a prominent scar on his lower abdomen, and he got it from a motorcycle crash that he suffered back in the day. The actor is a big fan of motorcycles and often takes his out for a spin. One day while riding in 1988, he navigated a bend too fast and found himself tumbling off his bike.

It was a rough accident, but luckily he survived. He, however, had surgery to remove his spleen and ended up with a huge scar on his stomach. Despite the accident, Keanu Reeves remains an enthusiastic bike rider. He has since suffered some broken ribs and bruised legs, but he doesn’t mind.

Does Keanu Reeves Smoke?

Keanu Reeves smokes, and it is a habit that he picked up at the age of 30 while filming the 1996 film Feeling Minnesota. His character, Jjaks Clayton, was written to be a smoker, and he had to do the part when filming commenced. He, unfortunately, got hooked and continues to smoke to date.

Keanu Reeves was pictured in August 2023 smoking on a beach while waiting for his band’s Dogstar concert to start. Also, in October 2021, he was pictured taking a cigarette break during the filming of John Wick 4 in Paris. Also, in April 2018, the actor was pictured smoking outside in Brooklyn.

So, Keanu Reeves definitely smokes but he will surely be trying to cut down on the number of cigarettes even if he can’t quit entirely.

Does Keanu Reeves Have a Speech Impediment?

Keanu Reeves does not have a speech impediment. There are, however, those who think he does, given how his character John Wick communicates in the films. His character is a man of few words and hardly speaks. When he does, he takes his time.

Such a trait means that some people have assumed that Reeves has a speech impediment, but it is not so. His character’s limited speech in John Wick is by design, as the focus is on his actions rather than his words.
