How To Watch Fate Series in Order

If you want to watch the Fate series in order, you start with Fate/Zero animated series. This 25-episode series is a prequel to Fate/Stay Night and takes place 10 years prior. It tells the origin story of the Holy Grail war. Next on the watching list is Fate/Stay Night, the 24-episode anime series that debuted on January 7, 2006.

The production has been criticized as being of low quality, but one can’t skip it since it tells the story of the first route of Shinrou’s battle in the Holy Grail war featuring Saber. Bear in mind that they will be some spoilers as the series included some elements from the second and third routes featuring Rin and Sakura, respectively. The producers did this because they didn’t know if further seasons would be approved.

Away from that, the next Fate series to watch in chronological order is the Unlimited Blade which is the second stage of the story. Unlimited Blade has been made into an animated film, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, released on 23 January 2010, as well as a series Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, which originally aired from October 4, 2014, to June 27, 2015.

It is up to you to choose which one to watch as they both tell the same story, but we recommend the animated series as it received better reviews from the critics. To continue watching the Fate series in order, one would now have to switch over to the films in the Fate/Stay Night Heaven Feel Film trilogy. This is because they now cover the third stage of the story, known as Heaven’s Feel, which has as its major heroine, Sakura. It is recommended that one watches all three films.

After watching the Heaven’s Feel trilogy films, one has officially come to an end of the Fate series. However, if you so loved the whole series that you want more Fate action, then you can explore the additional anime series and films that focus on storylines set in alternative universes. They include Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia, and Fate/Grand Order: Camelot featuring two movies Wandering; Agateram and Paladin; Agateram.

There is also Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya. This is a manga that is set in an alternate universe from Fate/Stay Night. The heroine is a girl with magical powers who is the adoptive younger sister of Shirou. The manga has spurned series and films, and so one can also watch them as they all belong to the Fate family.
