Names of All Encanto Characters and their Ages

Encanto is one of Disney’s most popular animated movies of 2021. Due to the acclaimed reception of the animated musical comedy, the Encanto characters have garnered a lot of attention. It is based on the Madrigal family, who live in a sentient home known as the Casita, their magical candle, and the magical gifts bequeathed by the Candle to the madrigal children.

The Madrigal family is depicted as an important pillar of their community. They use their magical gifts to the benefit of the people of the Encanto Village. Abuela Alma, the family’s matriarch, serves as the leader of the village.

List of Encanto Character Names

1. Abuela Alma – Voiced by María Cecilia Botero and Olga Merediz

  • Abuela Alma’s Age: 75 years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Libra

Alma Madrigal, also known as Abuela Alma, is the deuteragonist in Encanto. As the matriarch of the Family, she is the widowed wife of Pedro, the mother of Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno, and the grandmother to Isabela, Dolores, Luisa, Camilo, Mirabel, and Antonio. Alma has silvery-white hair with black streaks. She has brown eyes and a smooth face. She is dressed in a heavy black mourning shawl over a pinkish-maroon garment with numerous embroidered designs of mountain and candle themes that reach her ankles. Alma also wears little pearl earrings, which give her a sparkle of her younger, happier self.

In the flashbacks, a younger Alma has a more pleasant and smiley appearance. Although Alma is a kind woman who is protective of her family, she is also a little unpleasant to them.

Despite her love for her family, Alma appears disappointed that Mirabel did not receive a gift like the rest of her family and somehow overlooks Mirabel. Alma sometimes isolates Mirabel from other Madrigal activities.

It is also implied that she harbors some resentment towards Mirabel, not only for not receiving a gift but also for indirectly being one of the causes of Bruno’s disappearance. Furthermore, she constantly puts pressure on her family to make the best use of their talents, even beginning to push Isabela into marrying Mariano, oblivious to the fact that Isabela does not want to marry Mariano.

After the conflict between Mirabel and Alma damages their Casita, she sees her mistakes and apologizes to Mirabel. She also admits that she was afraid of losing her family and had forgotten that what made the family special was not only the gifts but the fact that they were a family.

2. Abuelo Pedro: Deceased

  • Abuelo Pedro’s Age: 26 Years old

Although an important character, Pedro Madrigal is one of the minor Encanto characters. He is the late husband of Alma and the father of the triplets – Bruno, Julieta, and Pepa. He is also the grandfather of Dolores, Mirabel, Luisa, Isabela, Antonio, and Camilo.

Pedro was a young Colombian man with a huge nose, facial hair, and dark brown hair that swept both sides of his face. He was dressed in a long-sleeved white button-down shirt. Pedro was certainly a brave and loving person since he sacrificed himself to protect his wife, infant children, and community from the armed men who were pursuing them. Pedro’s image was hung within Casa Madrigal following the miracle. Alma frequently converses with his image at night. She also has a photo of him in a locket, which she constantly wears.

3. Agustín Madrigal – Voiced by Wilmer Valderrama

  • Agustin Madrigal Age: 49 Years Old
  • Zodiac Sign: Taurus

Agustin Madrigal is one of the supporting Encanto characters. He is married to Julieta Madrigal and has three daughters, Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel. Agustin, having married into the family, lacks a magical gift, just like Mirabel. His accident-prone nature, on the other hand, allows his wife to constantly improve her healing magic by regularly healing him.

He is a tall, slim Latino man who, like his daughter Mirabel, wears round glasses. Dressed in a three-piece suit with an adapted navy-blue suit vest and matching slacks, Agustin wears a white collared shirt rolled up to his elbows with a blue tie worn underneath. He also has smooth gray-and-black hair, a pencil-thin mustache, and brown eyes.

Agustin also wears different socks, one purple with dumbbells to represent Luisa and one bright with embroidery to represent Mirabel. His clothing is also supposed to complement Julieta’s. Since he lacks magical abilities, he understands what it’s like not to feel like a member of the family. He does his utmost to console his youngest daughter, Mirabel, who is the only Madrigal child born without magical gifts.

When Agustin discovered Bruno’s vision of Mirabel and their family home being destroyed, he became concerned about what would happen to the Madrigal family and tried to keep it a secret, with the well-being of his youngest daughter being his only concern. Because he wanted to protect Mirabel from any backlash that would come to her from their family and community.

Agustin also has a loving connection with his wife, Julieta, wherein the two support each other and try their best to look after their youngest daughter whenever she is angry or experiencing sadness due to her lack of a magical gift.

Agustin is also aware of Alma’s disposition towards Mirabel and doesn’t hesitate to convey his feelings of disapproval, especially when Alma confronts him about keeping Bruno’s vision a secret. Alma’s friction with Agustin originates from the fact that they never got along, and she did not approve of him marrying her daughter, Julieta. Despite his clumsiness, Agustin loves all of his family members and is prepared to protect them.

4. Antonio Madrigal – Voiced by Ravi Cabot-Conyers

  • Antonio Madrigal’s Age: 5 Years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Pisces

Antonio Madrigal is one of the main Encanto characters. He is Félix and Pepa’s youngest son and Dolores and Camilo’s younger brother. Talking to animals is his magical gift.

Antonio is a curly-haired, dark-skinned toddler with hazel eyes. Dressed in a long-sleeved yellow-striped collared shirt with a red scarf over his neck, Antonio also wears bright khaki green pants. In the proposal dinner scene, after he has already got his gift, he wears a yellow vest with orange animals carved on it. Antonio is a sweet young guy with a golden heart. Yet, as demonstrated during his gift ceremony, he may be quite shy when someone (such as his sister Dolores, brother Camilo, or cousin Mirabel) is not present to help him.

Oblivious of his cousin Mirabel’s unpopularity in the Madrigal family as a result of her lack of a gift, Antonio admires her for being optimistic about her predicament. He is shown to be incredibly loving and helpful, such as when he offers Bruno and Mirabel his room so that Bruno can have a vision. He is also willing to utilize his gift for the benefit of others, such as when he instructed his coatis to warm Alma’s seat at the breakfast table.

Antonio, like the rest of his family and community, contributes to the rebuilding of Casita. At the very end, when the house is almost finished, Antonio demonstrates his affection for Mirabel by being the one to give her the doorknob. He then follows her to the door, just as she did for him at his gift ceremony.

5. Bruno Madrigal – Voiced by John Leguizamo

  • Bruno Madrigal’s Age: 50 Years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

Bruno Madrigal is also the deuteragonist in Encanto. He is Alma and Pedro’s only son and youngest child; Julieta and Pepa’s youngest triplet brother; Félix and Agustin’s brother-in-law; Dolores, Camilo, Antonio, Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel’s uncle. His magical gift is clairvoyance. Bruno is shorter than his sisters, is light-skinned, has hazel green eyes, and unkempt, curly, greying black hair. He has prominent under-eye bags, and when he uses his gift, his irises turn green. Wearing a hooded poncho, his clothes are visibly worn out due to his years in seclusion.

Bruno is frequently seen with a swarm of rats, who occasionally stay on his shoulders or inside his poncho. He is a secretive, anxious individual who tries to cope by performing superstitious rituals such as knocking on wood and tossing salt over his shoulder. Bruno is also a silly person who enjoys acting and telenovelas, encouraging his family members to express themselves rather than bottle up their emotions.

He adores his family and is willing to give up his position in the family to safeguard his youngest niece, Mirabel. Although when he sometimes faces his fears, he adopts fictitious personalities such as “Hernando,” who is afraid of nothing, and “Jorge,” the sparkle marker. Bruno has been separated from his family for ten years in a self-imposed exile at La Casa Madrigal. He believes that his ability to see the future causes people to assume the worst of his visions, which is why he disappeared.

His magical gift causes him to be paranoid and scared of his surroundings, so he devises a sand-based ritual to help him focus and manage his power. Although concealed from his family for a decade, Bruno still shows love and protection to them, such as saving Mirabel from a fall after attempting to flee from her. He rapidly develops a close bond with her and, with Mirabel’s persuasion and Antonio’s support, assists Mirabel with her dilemma by peering into the future for her. After their home falls, he also tries to defend Mirabel from his mother’s judgment.

6. Camilo Madrigal – Voiced by Rhenzy Feliz

  • Camilo Madrigal’s Age: 15 years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Aquarius

Camilo Madrigal appears as one of the supporting Encanto characters. He is Pepa and Félix’s middle child, Dolores’ younger brother, and Antonio’s older brother. Shapeshifting is his magical gift. Camilo is a teen with brown skin, dark wavy hair, and brown eyes. He has freckles on his nose and cheeks, as well as a dark tinge on his upper eyelids.

He is dressed in a beige button-down shirt with long sleeves rolled up to his wrists and a golden striped ruana with numerous chameleon designs on top, symbolizing Camilo’s shapeshifting ability. Camilo also wears black high-waisted pants and black open-toed beige sandals.

Camilo is depicted as a prankster with a golden heart. He uses his abilities to amuse the children while also making fun of individuals, such as when he sings his part in We Don’t Talk About Bruno and tries to cheer up Antonio by imitating his father. He’s also been known to make a few snarky remarks here and there, such as when he mentioned the family being homeless after Casita was demolished. He has a softer side, as evidenced by his attempt to calm his mother, Pepa, by giving her tea and affectionately referring to her as mami. He, like everyone else, adores his family and the Casita.

7. Dolores Madrigal – Voiced by Adassa

  • Dolores Madrigal’s Age: 21 years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Gemini

Dolores Madrigal, the second grandchild of the madrigals, is one of the supporting Encanto characters. She is the eldest child of Félix and Pepa, as well as the older sister of Antonio and Camilo. Her magical gift is super-hearing, and she doesn’t like to talk much because her hearing is so advanced that she can hear the drop of a needle. She also has a difficult time keeping secrets.

Dolores wears her curly dark brown hair in a bun wrapped with a red ribbon. Her skin is light brown, her eyes are hazel, and her gown features a long red skirt and a frilly white and yellow top with gold sound wave embellishments to signify her improved hearing. She wears red lipstick, a crimson choker necklace with a gold jewel, and matching heart-shaped earrings.

She usually gets noticeably nervous and even squeaks whenever she hears anything embarrassing and/or exposes what she hears. As predicted by Bruno, Dolores developed a crush on Mariano. But Mariano was to marry Isabela and never noticed Dolores. This caused Dolores to be slightly annoyed at Isabela and even more reclusive than usual, as shown during the proposal dinner.

Dolores acts as an assistant parent, mature and helpful. Because of her magical super-hearing, she is the most well-informed about everyone else’s business, which also causes her to be rather quiet and not noisy because she does not want to generate any more noise than what she usually hears.

When Bruno is reintroduced to the rest of the family after he came out of hiding, Dolores nudges Camilo’s arm, telling him that she knew Bruno never left and that she has heard him every day since his disappearance.

8. Félix Madrigal – Voiced by Mauro Castillo

  • Felix Madrigal’s Age: Over 50 years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Leo

Félix Madrigal is Pepa’s husband and a supporting character in Encanto. He is the uncle of Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel. Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio are his children. Félix has no magical gift because he married into the family.

Dark-skinned and middle-aged, Felix has poofy black hair with a graying “skunk stripe.” He also has dark brown eyes, with gray and black chin stubble. His clothing is intended to express his personality and identity; his customary bright yellow guayabera adorned with triangles reflects the stability he provides for his wife and children. Félix is also dressed in orange-striped slacks laced with a belt and yellow sockless shoes.

He adores his wife and assists her in calming down when her emotions get out of control. Felix is easygoing, fun, and kind to the entire family, including Mirabel, who is unpopular among the family owing to her lack of a magical gift. He is depicted to be a ‘life of the party’-type person, even persuading the strict Abuela Alma to dance with him and calling Bruno, the estranged brother of the family, “bro”.

9. Isabela Madrigal – Voiced by Diane Guerrero

  • Isabel Madrigal’s Age: 22 Years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Virgo

Isabela Madrigal is one of the major Encanto characters. As Alma and Pedro’s first grandchild, Isabela is depicted as the Golden child of the Madrigal Family owing also to her beauty, grace, and her gift of “perfection.” She is Luisa’s and Mirabel’s older sister and the eldest daughter of Agustin and Julieta.

Isabela is a young woman with dark brown skin, dark brown eyes, and long, straight, dark brown hair that is styled loosely. Her makeup consists of pink blush and reddish-brown lipstick. Isabela’s outfit is a purple satin gown with ruffles and flowers. Orchids, Colombia’s national flower, is embroidered around her neckline. Her gown features short frilly bell sleeves, and she wears pink ballet flats with ribbons knotted around her ankles, adorning her head with a pink orchid and pale violet diamond earrings.

She has the beautiful gift of flower/plant creation, and with each stride she makes, flowers begin to bloom. This complicates Isabela’s connection with the flawed Mirabel, as everything Isabela does appears to be perfect, such as cultivating beautiful flowers and plants. At the beginning of Encanto, Isabela looks to be a lovely and gentle person who is ideal in every manner. This, however, is largely a facade, as it is eventually shown that she is simply acting this way to meet Abuela’s expectations. As Isabela resolves to embrace her flaws, she is revealed to be quite upbeat and enjoys creating a broad range of plants, even “imperfect” ones.

10. Julieta Madrigal – Voiced by Angie Cepeda

  • Julieta Madrigal’s Age: 50 Years Old
  • Zodiac Sign: Cancer

Julieta Madrigal, the first child of Alma and Pedro, the oldest of the triplets (Pepa and Bruno), is one of the supporting Encanto characters. She is Agustin’s wife and the mother of Mirabel, Isabela, and Luisa. Her magical gift is the ability to heal with food.

Julieta has curly, dark brown hair with silver and white highlights that is swept up into a sloppy updo with a bun. She has a brown complexion and dark brown eyes that drop slightly downwards and is dressed in a baby blue elbow-length top with the ends of her sleeves folded up. Flowers are embroidered with white thread near the shoulders of her shirt. She wears the top underneath her tiffany blue dress and a matching apron with an embroidered mortar and pestle and herbs in the pockets, with golden pearl earrings and pale yellow flats.

Julieta is a kind woman who adores her family, especially her daughters, and husband, and does not consider it an inconvenience to continuously heal her husband with her gifts. She also frequently tries to persuade Mirabel that she is just as special as everyone else in the Madrigal family, but Mirabel refuses to believe her.

Julieta is concerned not only with her family but also with the town: she is the town healer, using her gift to treat the sick and injured. She appears to be the most put-together of all the Madrigals, and she’s a terrific caretaker for the town who performs her duties with warmth and expertise.

11. Luisa Madrigal – Voiced by Jessica Darrow

  • Luisa Madrigal’s Age: 19 years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Capricorn

Luisa Madrigal, the second-born daughter of Julieta and Agustin, is one of the main Encanto characters. She is also Isabela’s younger sister and Mirabel’s older sister. Her magical ability grants her super strength.

Luisa is a tall, strong young woman with a tanned complexion, brown hair, and hazel eyes. Her hair is braided on one side and pulled back in a bun with a red ribbon tied in a bow. She is dressed in a white short-sleeved shirt and a long indigo skirt. Dumbbells are also stitched into the bottom of her skirt, indicating her super-strength.

Luisa is a devout and diligent young woman who is dedicated to serving her family and community. She is also shown to be exceedingly tolerant, doing anything asked of her without complaint, despite the fact that she doesn’t get appreciated enough. Luisa is also very patient, as evidenced by the younger children hanging off her arms and back when she was holding a dish of snacks while she was putting out food for Antonio’s gift ceremony. However, despite her outward confidence, Luisa has insecurities and is quite critical of herself. She expresses concern about not being able to handle her duties and feels she is worthless if she can’t be of service.

This shows that Luisa places a high value on the usefulness of her gift, and without it, she believes she is nothing. But she also expresses a desire to be able to relax and not have to bear the “crushing weight” of everyone’s expectations. Luisa also has a soft spot for things that are cute or considered childish, such as unicorns and stuffed animals.

12. Mariano Guzman – Voiced by Maluma

  • Mariano Guzman’s Age: Unknown
  • Zodiac Sign: Capricorn

Mariano Guzmán is a minor character in Encanto. He is a muscular man with tanned skin, short brown hair, side-swept bangs, and hazel eyes. Mariano also has a mustache, and a light goatee and dresses in a white, striped guayabera, emphasizing his masculinity and also wears long brown pants and light brown flats. He is Isabela’s ex-fiancee, Dolores’ boyfriend, and the son of Senora Guzmán’s son.

As he and his mother rally the townspeople to help rebuild Casita, and he remarks that he has “so much love inside,” he is noted to be a quite adoring, giving, occasionally shy, and empathic man as well. Even after Isabela broke his nose twice, he bore no grudges against her.

He used to be in love with Isabela primarily because of her “perfection”. Nevertheless, when he meets Dolores, he is instantly smitten and surprises her with his enthusiastic adoration, showcasing his loving personality.

13. Mirabel Madrigal – Voiced by Stephanie Beatriz

  • Mirabel Madrigal’s Age: 15 years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius

Mirabel Madrigal is Encanto’s protagonist. She is the youngest daughter of Julieta and Agustin, as well as the younger sister of Luisa and Isabela and Alma’s youngest granddaughter. Unlike the rest of her family, she does not have a magical gift.

Mirabel is a teen with golden brown eyes, chin-length dark brown curly hair, and round, lime-green framed glasses. She also wears blue pompom earrings. Mirabel’s clothes have a “do-it-yourself” appeal that reflects her personality.

Mirabel, even as a 5-year-old, wore her trademark green glasses and resembled her teenage self, with the same haircut and petite face. She is a free-spirited and open-minded teenager who is filled with optimism yet slightly insecure because, unlike her family members, she lacks magical gifts. As the Casita cracks, she dedicates herself to protecting Casa Madrigal and the enchanted realm of Encanto, demonstrating her bravery. She enjoys problem-solving and makes many acquaintances, particularly among her family members. Mirabel is vivacious and constantly willing to assist her family.

Although Mirabel lacks a magical gift, it is proven that she can converse with Casita, which the rest of her family, except for Abuela Alma, is not shown doing. Towards the end of the film, Mirabel attaches her doorknob (crafted for her by her family) to the front door, which restores the magic, bringing Casita back to life and confirming Mirabel as the new vessel for the magic.

14. Pepa Madrigal – Voiced by Carolina Gaitan

  • Pepa Madrigal’s Age: 50 years old
  • Zodiac Sign: Aries

Pepa Madrigal is the second daughter and child of Alma Madrigal and the late Pedro Madrigal. She is one of the supporting Encanto characters and is the middle triplet sister of Julieta and Bruno Madrigal. Pepa is the wife of Félix Madrigal and the mother of Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio Madrigal. Her magical gift is the ability to control the weather, albeit with her emotions.

Pepa is fair-skinned with dark green eyes and curling hip-length auburn hair knotted in a braid. She wears a metallic golden sun-shaped earring and an orange and yellow dress toned to reflect the sun to brighten her mood. It’s also worth noting that her outfit has a rain pattern that can only be seen up close. She also wears a yellow-orange bandana ribbon with miniature lightning designs on her head, similar to how her daughter, Dolores, wears hers.

Pepa is regarded as a bit “extra” at times due to her fluctuating emotions. She continuously repeats clear skies to help her control her emotions and the weather. The weather gets cloudy and stormy when she is upset and clears up when she is happy.

Her husband, Félix, whom she deeply adores, can also easily calm her down by being flirty or simply placing a hand on her shoulder.  She adores her family, especially her children. But she is very tough when it comes to her own brother Bruno, whom she resents at times because of the negative outcomes of his prophecies; one notable example is when he makes a joke on her wedding day about it “looking like rain,” which did not go down well with the paranoid Pepa, causing her to stress out and create a hurricane with her emotions.

Despite her angst towards Bruno, when he returned from a decade-long absence, Pepa was quick to embrace him and welcome him back into the family. Pepa’s temper may also get the best of her, and she frequently says things she doesn’t mean, although she always apologizes.

15. Senora Guzman – Voiced by Rose Portillo

Names of All Encanto Characters and their Ages

Senora Guzmán is one of the minor Encanto characters. She is a member of the Encanto community as well as Mariano’s loving mother. Senora Guzman is a senior citizen with gray and black hair. Her mode of dressing is a white top and a yellow jacket that is fastened with a gold button, with an orange skirt with horizontal yellow stripes all the way to the hem and white pearl earrings.

Senora Guzmán, like Abuela Alma, was very excited for Isabela and Mariano’s wedding, though it’s unclear if she was sad when she found out her son was dating Dolores. She maintains a cordial relationship with the madrigals and also helped to rebuild the casita with her son.
