Cheryl Herrin was posted to several other states. She rose to hold the position of vice president of State Farm’s Florida Zone. Cameron Herrin’s dad, Chris, also studied at Texas Tech, but his degree was in television and radio. He built a career for himself as a videographer and editor specializing in creating videos for corporate presentations.
Chris’ career was less demanding, so he stayed at home to take care of the children while his wife thrived in her career. Their arrangement worked out quite well as they got to be quite well-to-do. Their home is a five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom mansion. The 6000 square feet house cost more than a million dollars when it was purchased in 2006.

What Did Cameron Herrin Do?
Cameron Herrin knocked down and killed a 24-year-old woman Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt and her 21-months old baby Lillia while speed racing in his ford mustang on the 23rd of May 2021. Cameron had earlier received the car as a graduation gift from his parents and was quite happy, taking it for regular spins. On that day, he was driving with his brother in the passenger seat, and they decided to head out to a gym, LA Fitness, for a quick workout.
A friend of Cameron’s named John Barrineau also planned to head to the same gym. John was driving his own car, and he and Cameron decided to race each other and see who would make it first to the gym. The boys both zoomed off, with Cameron driving at a speed of 102 miles per hour which was about 2.5 times more than the legal limit.
The two cars later approached Bayshore Boulevard at the same time when Jessica, who had taken her baby for a stroll in her walker, was trying to cross the road. John swerved to avoid hitting her, while Cameron also swerved to avoid hitting John’s car. He, unfortunately, knocked down both Jessica and her baby. Jessica died on the spot, while her baby died a day later. Of course, Cameron, Tristan, and John were all arrested.
Cameron Herrin’s Sentence
Cameron Herring was sentenced to 24 years in jail after a trial that took some time to conclude. He and John had earlier been charged with vehicular homicide, and both pleaded guilty. John was sentenced to about six years in jail, while Cameron was sentenced to 24 years in jail. The reason for this was that Cameron was the one directly involved in killing Jessica and her baby.
Was Cameron Herrin’s Sentence Reduced?
Cameron Herrin’s sentence has not been reduced though he continues to make efforts in that regard. After he was initially sentenced to a 24-year jail term in April 2021, his lawyer filed an application before the trial judge asking that his sentence be reduced.
They based their application on statements made by the state prosecutor at the time, Andrew Warren, who allegedly described Cameron’s sentence as excessively harsh, crazy, and egregiously high. The application was rejected by the court.
Cameron’s lawyers also filed an appeal before the judges of the State Appeals Court, arguing that the trial judge abused his discretionary powers given the gap between John’s sentence and that of Cameron. The appeal was equally unsuccessful, and they are now exploring further options.
Where is Cameron Herrin Today Now?
Cameron Herrin is currently at the Graceville Correctional Facility located in Graceville, Jackson County. It is a private prison for men. It was opened for use in 2007 and is operated by private owners in conjunction with the Florida Department of Corrections. Many see Graceville as a safer facility for Herrin rather than one which is owned and operated by the state.
Will Cameron Herrin Get Parole?
Convicts usually get paroled after some time if they are of good conduct but from all indications, it seems that Cameron Herrin is not eligible for parole and will serve out all 24 years of his jail time before he regains his freedom.
Normally, when sentencing, judges mention the period that the convicted person will be eligible for parole, but that was not done in Herrin’s case. Even when his lawyers filed applications for his sentence to be reduced, which was ultimately rejected, they pointed out that he would be in his 40s before he would come out if nothing were done. Therefore, Cameron Herrin’s case does not seem to be one in which parole will be considered.
When Is Cameron Herrin’s Release Date?
If he serves out his full sentence, Cameron Herrin will be released from prison on the 25th of March, 2045. By that time, he will be 45 years old, and this means that much of his productive years may be behind him. Such a fact has made many people call for his sentence to be reduced. The young man has even become a viral personality on social media platforms such as Tik Tok.
You have people from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East commenting on how hot he looks and declaring that he shouldn’t be in jail. Even his mother has revealed that she gets lots of emails, phone calls, and letters from people concerning her son’s case. She has also stated that they now amount to an unhealthy obsession.
