What Did Cameron Herrin Do?

Cameron Herrin knocked down and killed a 24-year-old woman Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt and her 21-months old baby Lillia while speed racing in his ford mustang on the 23rd of May 2021. Cameron had earlier received the car as a graduation gift from his parents and was quite happy, taking it for regular spins. On that day, he was driving with his brother in the passenger seat, and they decided to head out to a gym, LA Fitness, for a quick workout.

A friend of Cameron’s named John Barrineau also planned to head to the same gym. John was driving his own car, and he and Cameron decided to race each other and see who would make it first to the gym. The boys both zoomed off, with Cameron driving at a speed of 102 miles per hour which was about 2.5 times more than the legal limit.

The two cars later approached Bayshore Boulevard at the same time when Jessica, who had taken her baby for a stroll in her walker, was trying to cross the road. John swerved to avoid hitting her, while Cameron also swerved to avoid hitting John’s car. He, unfortunately, knocked down both Jessica and her baby. Jessica died on the spot, while her baby died a day later. Of course, Cameron, Tristan, and John were all arrested.

Cameron Herring was sentenced to 24 years in jail after a trial that took some time to conclude. He and John had earlier been charged with vehicular homicide, and both pleaded guilty. John was sentenced to about six years in jail, while Cameron was sentenced to 24 years in jail. The reason for this was that Cameron was the one directly involved in killing Jessica and her baby.
