Who Was Timothy Reynolds on Yellowstone, Was He An Actor?

Timothy Reynolds was a crew member (technician and electrician) on Yellowstone who died on August 24th, 2022. Following Timothy Reynolds’s death, the production team of the American neo-Western drama television series paid tribute to him at the end of season 5, episode 5 titled Watch ‘Em Ride Away stating, “In Memory of Timothy Reynolds”.

Before his untimely death, Timothy worked as a Best Boy Sound Lighting Tech in the entertainment industry. In this capacity, he brought life to many shows, concerts, and theater productions for which he is remembered today. While he lived, Timothy Reynolds was not an actor in Yellowstone nor had he acted in any other movie, TV series, or on-stage production. However, he worked closely with actors and actresses on various projects as a set technician and electrician. More specifically, the title for his type of job in the entertainment industry is referred to as “best boy set lighting technician”.

As the best boy set lighting technician in Yellowstone, the late Timothy Reynolds was responsible for rendering and maintaining just the right amount of lightning in the ambiance of certain scenes to replicate exactly what the director had in mind. He was also recognized as who you may refer to as the second-in-command or chief assistant to the gaffer, chief lighting tech, or head electrician.

What Caused Yellowstone Timothy Reynolds’ Death?

The family members of Timothy Reynolds for some reasons known to them have not publicly discussed what caused his death on August 24th, 2022. However, from the information we have been able to put together, we gathered that the seasoned film set electrician and technician died at age 66 on that fateful day. Perhaps, his death came about as a result of natural causes.

Being that he died at the age of 66 in 2022, it means that he was born on 30th October 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Sherman and Ruth Lewis Reynolds. The late Timothy Reynolds is today survived by his everloving and dedicated wife Sierra Reynolds, their children; an unnamed daughter and stepson Seth, his sister whose name is Shirley Reynolds, and his numerous grandchildren; Skyler, Silas, Simon, Kistina, Sean Pressler, Ames, Anthony, Rachel, Timothy Jr. and Atticus Reynolds and members of the Yellowstone crew.

When was Yellowstone Timothy Reynold’s Obituary?

Though Timothy Reynolds died on August 24th, 2022, his death came to the knowledge of many people on December 4, 2022, when episode 5 “Watch ‘Em Ride Away” of Yellowstone season 5 aired.

But before that time, he had already been buried and a memorial service was held on September 3rd, 2022 at the IATSE Union Hall by 2:00 pm as we learned from his online obituary publication.

This means that though many people got to know of his passing away in season 5, episode 5 of Yellowstone, Timothy was not part of the season 5 production team. He worked in 31 episodes of Yellowstone with an exception being the second episode of the show’s fourth season.

Yellowstone Timothy Reynolds Tribute

The production team of Yellowstone paid a tribute to Timothy Reynolds at the end of episode 5, season 5 of the television series with the words  “In Memory of Timothy Reynolds”. Before that time, many people didn’t know who he was though his name had previously been listed as a crew member.

Timothy Reynolds is however not the only crew member that has been paid tribute to on Yellowstone. Earlier in the season 2 finale, Melanie Olmstead a transportation and location manager who died in 2019 was also paid tribute to.
