The names of some of the biggest characters in Tokyo Revengers, a popular Japanese manga that has been made into an equally popular anime series, include Takemichi Hanagaki, Hinata Tachibana, and Manjirō Sano, aka Mikey.

The protagonist of Tokyo Revengers is Takemichi Hanagaki, a middle-aged fellow who is unemployed. He is basically enduring a miserable existence until he discovers that his former girlfriend, Hinata, and her brother, Naoto, have been murdered by the deadly Tokyo Manji gang.

Things are further complicated when someone pushes Takemichi onto an approaching train. He, however, survives and gains time-traveling abilities. With this ability, Takemichi vows to stop the series of events that lead to his ex-girlfriend’s death. Tokyo Revengers manga began publishing in March 2017. 1. Takemichi Hanagaki

The protagonist and major character in Tokyo Revengers is Takemichi Hanagaki. Hanagaki is in his mid-20s and is described as a freeter. This is a Japanese term for a grownup who is unemployed or does not maintain regular employment excepting students and housewives.

Takemichi is enduring a miserable existence, and things are further complicated when he finds out that his high school girlfriend, Hinata, and her brother, Naoto, are dead and have been murdered by a deadly gang. Takemichi subsequently gains time-traveling ability by accident and decides to use it to reshape the future and prevent those deaths. This leads him to infiltrate the deadly Tokyo Manji Gang as well as other gangs.

2. Manjirō Sano aka Mikey

Another major character in Tokyo Revengers is Manjirō Sano, aka Mikey. Mikey is the leader of the Tokyo Manji Gang that are responsible for the deaths of Hinata and her brother, Naoto. He possesses immense strength, fighting prowess, and martial art skills. He also has charisma and leadership abilities.

Mikey turned to gang life because of his background grief and struggles. He constantly flirts on the edges of darkness but retains a bit of conscience. Takemichi’s mission is to stop him from becoming a full-blown evil person.

3. Ken Ryūgūji aka Draken

Ken Ryūgūji, aka Draken, is the deputy leader of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He is variously described as a wild individual who doesn’t back away from a good fight, especially when it involves strong opponents. He is also described as a caring and loyal friend who has provided wise counsel to his leader, Mikey.

Draken is so close to Mikey that his death would make Mikey go off the rails. As such, Takemichi works to prevent that.

4. Hinata Tachibana

Hinata Tachibana is the main motivating force behind Takemichi’s actions. Hinata was Takemichi’s girlfriend back in school. They, however, break up and move on with their separate lives. She is later killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang, and her death causes Takemichi to try and rewrite the future. It eventually emerges that the person behind the order to kill Hinata is a gang member named Kisaki.

Kisaki takes over the Tokyo Manji Gang to boost his social status and woo Hinata. This does not work, and he has Hinata killed in every present timeline for rejecting him. Takemichi, however, seeks to stop this, and Hinata eventually finds out that he has been time-traveling.

5. Naoto Tachibana

Naoto Tachibana is also another major character in Tokyo Revengers. He is the younger brother of Hinata. He and Hinata are murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang, and this devastates Takemichi.

Takemichi eventually makes it back to the past and attempts to halt the murder. Naoto helps Takemichi to return to the future by shaking his hands which becomes Takemichi’s method for time traveling. Thanks to the warning received from Takemichi, Naoto is able to avoid death and becomes a detective in Tokyo’s organized crime department.

6. Tetta Kisaki

Tetta Kisaki is another major character in Tokyo Revengers. He is the major antagonist and is responsible for Hinata’s woes. The bespectacled Tetta Kisaki is described as an intelligent and handsome fellow. He is, however, a manipulative person that wants to get his way. He tries to take over the Tokyo Manji Gang so that he can boost his social status and woe Hinata. She, however, turns him down, and he is determined to murder her as a result.

Takemichi stands in his way, and he views him as an enemy for stealing Hinata’s attention. Takemichi and Kisaki eventually engage in a gun duel and Kisaki winds up dead while trying to escape.

7. Kazutora Hanemiya

Kazutora Hanemiya is is a career gang member. He is a co-founder of the Tokyo Manji Gang but later leaves for another gang known as Valhalla. Kazutora has a complicated relationship with Mikey, and Mikey nearly kills him.

Takemichi, however, stops this from happening so as to prevent that chain of events that would have resulted in the murder of Hinata and her younger brother – Naoto. Kazutora Hanemiya is a major character in Tokyo Revengers.

8. Keisuke Baji

Keisuke Baji is a founding member of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He later joins Kazutora Hanemiya to move to the Valhalla gang. Baji is a major reason for the complicated relationship between Kazutora Hanemiya and Mikey.

He and Kazutora once planned to steal a bike as a birthday gift for Mikey, but unbeknownst to them, the shop owner was Mikey’s brother named Shinichiro. They kill him, and this causes a lot of bad blood with Mikey naturally seeking to take his pound of flesh back. Keisuke Baji is a major character in Tokyo Revengers.

9. Haruki Hayashida aka Pah-Chin

Haruki Hayashida, also known as Pah-chin, is a fierce member of the Tokyo Manji gang and nearly sets off internal conflict in the gang. This comes in the first arch when he stabs the leader of the rival gang, Moebius. He is arrested by the cops, and his gang members bicker over how to get him out.

Haruki Hayashida is a major character in Tokyo Revengers as his arrest sets off a potentially devasting situation that Takemichi has to deal with.

10. Shuji Hanma

Shuji Hanma is one of the major characters in Tokyo Revengers and a minor antagonist. He is a career gang member and has been embroiled in street violence for many years. He has been a member of several gangs, including Tokyo Manji Gang, Kanto Manji Gang, Valhalla, Tenjiku, and Moebius. While a member of Valhalla, Shuji Hanma leads a group of Moebius members to attack the Tokyo Manji Gang, but the Tokyo Manji Gang prevails in the end.

11. Taiju Shiba

Taiju Shiba is one of the major villains in Tokyo Revengers. He is the elder brother of Hakkia Shiba and Yuzuha Shiba. He is tasked with caring for his two younger siblings and is abusive toward them, which makes them dislike him.

Taiju is violent, brutal, and harsh. He is the leader of the Black Dragons Gang and trains them with military precision into a well-drilled unit. Taiju is also a religious fellow, but this does not stop him from taunting and killing rivals as well as abusing his siblings.

12. Takashi Mitsuya

Takashi Mitsuya is one of the founding members of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He heads the second division of the gang, and it is this division that Takemichi is assigned to when he joins the gang.

Takashi Mitsuya is a strong and tough gang member but he does have a good streak though. He takes care of his two siblings, Luna and Mana, in the absence of their mother. Takashi Mitsuya is a supporting character in Tokyo Revengers.

13. Makoto Suzuki

Makoto Suzuki is one of the supporting characters in Tokyo Revengers. He is a low-level member of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He likes erotic books as well as films. Suzuki does not have the best fighting skills, save for a few wrestling moves that he picked up from comics.

However, what he lacks in fighting skills, he makes up for it with his loyalty. He and his friends turned up to support Takemichi when the latter fought a fierce rematch against Masataka Kiyomizu, a former Tokyo Manji Gang member who later left and found his own gang.

14. Masataka Kiyomizu aka Kiyomasa

Masataka Kiyomizu, also known as Kiyomasa, is one of the supporting characters in Tokyo Revengers, as well as a minor antagonist who fights a fierce battle against Takemichi.

Kiyomasa is a former member of the Tokyo Manji Gang who later founded and headed his own gang. He is tall and muscular and has a scar slashing across his left eyebrow. Brutal, merciless, and cruel are some of the words that are used to describe Kiyomasa. He stabs Draken to death because Draken reportedly humiliated him sometime in the past.

15. Kazushi Yamagishi

Kazushi Yamagishi is a supporting character in Tokyo Revengers. He is a friend of Takemichi’s from the same middle school. Yamagishi wears glasses because he believes that it would make him smart and people make fun of him for this.

He is, however, a reservoir of knowledge on several topics, including gang life. He knows the power dynamics, internal structure, formation, and membership of various gangs as well as other obscure facts about them.

16. Atsushi Sendō aka Akkun

Atsushi Sendō, aka Akkun, is also another friend of Takemichi’s from middle school. He possesses average fighting skills but still becomes a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He also leads a group of other delinquents and is very loyal to them. Akkun dreams of being a hairstylist and often hangs out at the Harajuku Beauty Salon owned by his cousin. He is a big fan of Elvis. Akkun is a supporting character in Tokyo Revengers.

17. Hakkia Shiba

Hakkia Shiba is one of the supporting characters in Tokyo Revengers. He is a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang and reaches the position of vice-captain of their second division. Hakkia was physically abused by his own elder brother named Taiju, while growing up, and this made him equally become abusive as well. He later changes and becomes a calm and peaceful person as an adult.

Shiba also becomes a member of Black Dragons, which is headed by his elder brother. His brother is later killed and Takemichi becomes a leader of the Black Dragons.

18. Yuzuha Shiba

Yuzuha Shiba is a supporting character in Tokyo Revengers. She is the sister of Hakkia Shiba and Taiju Shiba. Taiju was equally abusive towards her but she did her best to protect Hakkia.

Yuzuha is equally a member of the Black Dragons Gang and harbors thoughts of killing Taiju. Hakkia is prepared to take the fall for her, but this is avoided after the Tokyo Manji Gang battle the Black Dragons and Mikey Kills Taiju.

19. Nahoya Kawata

Nahoya Kawata is a minor character in Tokyo Revengers. He is a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang and is the captain of the 4th division. Kawata is often smiling and is nick-named Smiley as a result. He is, however, a strong and skilled gang member.

He also has a twin brother named Souya Kawata. His twin brother often looks angry, and that is his nickname. Kowata and his brother later form and head the Twin Devils Gang. Nahoya Kowata is a minor character in Tokyo Revengers.

20. Ryōhei Hayashi aka Peh-yan

Peh-yan is a supporting character in Tokyo Revengers. He is a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang and becomes the vice-captain of their third division. Peh-yan is not that intelligent, but what he lacks in intellect, he makes up for with his physical strength and abilities. He is also a loyal member of the Tokyo Manji Gang and genuinely cares for the members as well as the progress of the group.

21. Chifuyu Matsuno

Chifuyu Matsuno is also a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang and is the vice-captain of their first division. Despite being a gang member, Chifuyu Matsuno exhibits a reliable and honorable character. For instance, he allowed himself to be beaten up so that Baji could gain admission into the Valhalla gang.

Matsuno also works closely with Takemichi and later discovers the latter’s time travel long powers. He resolves to help him achieve his vision of changing the past to rewrite the future. Chifuyu Matsuno is a supporting character in Tokyo Revengers.
