Will There Be a Season 5 of Overlord?
Yes, there will be Season 5 of the highly successful anime series. The two reasons behind the belief that Madhouse, which is the studio that made the anime series from Maruyama’s novel, will not likely throw away a project that has given it good numbers even before reaching the end.
The second thing to consider is that there is still available source material for yet another season. This is because the Light Novel series continues to the 18th volume, while season 4 continued to volume 14, leaving behind 12 and 13, which became a part of the anime film, Overlord: The Holy Kingdom.
The first season of the series covered the first three volumes, while the second season covered volumes 4 to 6. The third season of the anime adaptation covers volumes 7 to 9 of the Light Novel.
When is Overlord Season 5 Coming Out?
For now, no release date has been provided for Overload Season 5. There is no official confirmation that it has been renewed for a new season. However, we are most certain that it will be returning to the screen for the fifth time because there is still more to the series if the novel from which it was drawn is anything to go by.
The belief is that the So-Bin illustrated anime series may likely be coming out in September 2025. The idea behind this is that with 2023 almost done and also being rather busy for Madhouse, it could take to 2024 before an announcement would be made, and then the release may be in 2025. Whatever the case, keep in mind that this is nothing more than speculation.
Is Overlord Finished?
Overlord is still not yet finished, but it is nearing its end. According to the author of the Light Novel, Muruyama, the series is going to end in its eighteenth volume. What this means is that season 5 of the anime series may as well be its final season.
With the fourth season of the series stopping a volume 14, it means we only have 4 more volumes to go into the next season. This is a strong indication that it is already coming to an end.
Another important thing to consider is that the author also revealed that the light novel itself will come to an end in its 18th volume, which we have already reached.
Overlord Season 5 Dub Release Date
Since the release date has not been made known for the season itself, it will be difficult to tell when the season 5 dub would be released. However, if the release date of 2025 manages to hold, then we may get to see the dub in the same year.
How Many Episodes Will Overlord Season 5 Have
With a release date not available officially, many other things cannot be given with all certainty. One such is the exact number of episodes we are to expect. But then, if Madhouse has been consistent with anything relating to the Overlord anime series, it is the number of episodes it has maintained in the last four seasons.
Each of the last seasons came with 13 episodes. As such, if it wants to maintain this culture, we will also have 13 episodes in the new season. However, there is also the possibility that we may be greeted with fewer episodes than in previous seasons.
