Sukuna x Megumi: Why Does Sukuna Like Megumi?

Sukuna’s unwavering admiration for Megumi stems from his discernment of Megumi’s latent power and the tantalizing prospect of witnessing him evolve into an even more formidable threat or invaluable asset in the future.

Megumi is a first-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. He is training to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer and develop Cursed Techniques to fight against Cursed Spirits. His abilities, coupled with his boundless potential, foster a complex dynamic between him and Sukuna, the undisputed most powerful Cursed Spirit of all time who was once known as the King of Curses. Sukuna occasionally assumes the role of a mentor, imparting guidance and advice to aid Megumi’s growth.

From the earliest chapters of the manga, Sukuna’s profound fascination with Megumi has been palpable. His reverence for Megumi’s capabilities serves as a compelling driving force behind his deep-rooted interest. Beyond their extraordinary powers, the relationship between Sukuna and Megumi transcends their respective abilities, delving into the depths of their contrasting personalities.

Sukuna embodies a tempestuous and impulsive nature, driven by his own desires and ambitions. In contrast, Megumi exudes a calm and calculated demeanor, prioritizing the protection of others. This juxtaposition of personalities enriches their dynamic, engendering captivating interactions that continually captivate audiences.

As the series unfolds, the connection between Sukuna and Megumi deepens, growing more nuanced and multifaceted. Hints and fragments of an unspoken bond emerge, suggestive of a shared past or a veiled agenda yet to be unveiled. This intriguing element of mystery and allure surrounding their relationship leaves a tantalizing space for further exploration and character development.

Why Is Sukuna So Interested In Megumi?

Sukuna’s profound interest in Megumi originates from his recognition of Megumi’s latent power and the potential implications it holds for the future. This fascination initially arises during the Cursed Womb Arc, where Megumi showcases his formidable Ten Shadows technique against a powerful demon. Despite Sukuna not being fully engaged in the battle, he astutely observes Megumi’s restraint in utilizing his powers.

The Ten Shadows cursed technique holds a distinct place within the Zen’in Family, making it an exceptionally rare ability. Among all the members of the Zen’in Family, Megumi stands alone as the sole individual capable of summoning shikigami, spiritual creatures that aid him in combat.

This technique captivates Sukuna’s attention in their initial encounter, where he refers to Megumi’s untapped potential as “a wasted treasure.” He displays excitement when Megumi resorts to summoning Mahoraga, indicating his keen interest in witnessing the full extent of Megumi’s powers. However, during their conversation, Sukuna reveals genuine unawareness of the Ten Shadows technique, which raises intriguing questions about the technique’s origin and its significance to Sukuna.

Sukuna’s fascination with Megumi’s technique appears to surpass his interest in Megumi as an individual. Sukuna recognizes the potential of the Ten Shadows technique and perceives it as a possible means to achieve his ultimate goal of resurrecting his original body. Since Sukuna’s fingers, containing his immense power, are indestructible, his ultimate goal may be to inhabit a more manageable and compatible vessel. Megumi’s mastery of the Ten Shadows technique presents an opportunity for Sukuna to achieve this objective.

The dynamic between Sukuna and Megumi extends beyond their respective powers and abilities. It is characterized by a contrast in their personalities. Sukuna embodies impulsiveness and recklessness, driven by his desires and ambitions, while Megumi possesses a reserved and strategic nature, primarily focused on protecting others. This stark juxtaposition of personalities adds depth to their dynamic and engenders captivating interactions between the two characters.

Additionally, it is essential to acknowledge the possibility of a deeper, undisclosed connection between Sukuna and Megumi, potentially linked to their shared past or an unrevealed agenda. Akutami Sensei, the creator of the series, has deliberately crafted this connection throughout the narrative, leaving room for further exploration and character development.

What Are The Plans Sukuna Has For Megumi?

Sukuna, the King of Curses, has intricate plans concerning Megumi Fushiguro, a notable jujutsu sorcerer. Sukuna’s primary objective is to seize control of a formidable sorcerer’s body and achieve resurrection. Initially, when Yuji Itadori consumed one of Sukuna’s fingers, providing an opportunity for Sukuna’s manifestation, he experienced joy. However, Sukuna soon realized that Itadori possessed an exceptional mental fortitude that hindered him (Sukuna) from fully dominating his host.

Acknowledging the need for a more compliant vessel to attain supremacy and power, Sukuna recognizes that Megumi’s body might be more susceptible to his influence than Itadori’s. There have been indications of Sukuna’s peculiar fascination with Megumi from the early stages of Jujutsu Kaisen, which became particularly evident during their confrontation outside the Detention Center.

During this encounter, Sukuna became aware of Megumi’s ability to summon shikigami, spirit animals derived from the Ten Shadows technique passed down through the Zenin clan of jujutsu sorcerers. It is theorized that Sukuna desires to possess the most powerful shikigami, inheriting the collective abilities of all the others.

His plan could involve commandeering Megumi’s body, annihilating all the shikigamis except one, and then liberating himself from the host, emerging as a newly empowered entity. However, it is crucial to note that Megumi has not yet mastered the Ten Shadows technique, and Sukuna’s plan can only be executed as intended once Megumi achieves mastery over summoning all ten shikigamis, each possessing its own unique powers.

It can be speculated that Sukuna simply wishes for Megumi to perfect the technique, enabling the execution of his supposed grand design. Rumors of affection between Sukuna and Megumi have circulated among certain enthusiasts, but considering Sukuna’s ruthless and malevolent nature, such possibilities are easily dismissed.
