When Will Luffy Gear 5 Be Animated?

The first group of fans that will be lucky to see Luffy Gear 5 in animated form are viewers in Japan, but shortly afterward, the episode will be aired in other countries as well, especially on streaming platforms such as Crunchyroll.

It is possible that Luffy Gear 5 will appear in multiple episodes as his fight with Kaidou stretches multiple chapters of the anime. He will also fall back on it multiple times in the future now that he has unlocked that particular level of power.

Luffy Gear 5 Abilities

Luffy’s Gear 5 power gives him a whole new range of abilities that are simply mind-blowing and also improves on the ones that he already has. Gear 5 gives Luffy greater strength, speed, and durability, which means that he can go toe to toe with any opponent without breaking a sweat. He is also better suited to match formidable foes like Rob Lucci and Kaidou.

Luffy’s Gear 5 also gives him a fast recovery rate which applies even when he is so badly injured that he is unconscious. Of course, there is no gainsaying the fact that this ability is quite useful in duels. Using his Gear 5 powers, Luffy can spin his legs so fast that he can run with so much friction, enough to generate a fire left in his wake.

Gear 5 level also enhances what Luffy can do with the rubbery nature of his body. He can enlarge his limbs, hands, and muscles to such an extent that he can grab and fling about the great dragon, Kaidou, with ease.

Luffy’s Gear 5 abilities also mean that he can emit a huge blast of willpower known as Haoshoku Haki and blast several opponents away at the same time. A practical demonstration of this came when he was surrounded by dozens of beasts and pirates loyal to Kaidou.

Luffy is bound and overwhelmed as they close in on him with various instruments, but he is able to emit a force akin to an energy blast that dispatches all of them away. Luffy, in his Gear 5 form, also gets the ability to expand and stretch his whole body all at once, something that was not previously available to him.

The abilities that Gear 5 confers on Luffy are simply awesome, but it does come with some drawbacks as well. It takes a lot of energy to use it, and as such, once the user is through, he or she is left quite weakened, which reflects on their body. For instance, Luffy looks like someone that has aged a bit after using Gear 5, which is unfortunate. There is also the possibility of the user’s mind being controlled by the animal from which the power is derived.

How Strong is Gear 5 Luffy?

Gear 5 Luffy is so strong that he can defeat Kaidou, the feared dragon beast. What enabled Luffy to achieve this feat is the unique ability that comes with Gear 5. Ordinarily, consuming the devil fruit gave Luffy a rubbery body that he could use to his advantage in battle.

However, in Gear 5 levels, Luffy now acquires the ability to turn his surroundings as well as different categories of matter into rubber and deploy that when attacking or fending off attacks.

For instance, during Luffy’s battle with Kaidou, at some point, the beast dragon launched his ability known as bolo breath at him. The bolo breath is so hot that it can destroy buildings and mountain tops, but Luffy is able to repel this by turning the roof on which he stands into rubber. He then stretches the roof and is able to launch the bolo breath back at Kaidou.

Luffy can also extend this ability to turn things into rubber to the human body. Even when Kaidou swallows him, he inflates in his belly, and the dragon consequently inflates. Luffy is eventually able to finish off Kaidou using a combination of Gear 5 powers as well as Haki.

The rubbery nature of Luffy’s body also offers him much-needed protection. For instance, in chapter 1046 of One Piece, he is able to hold lightning bolts in his hand without experiencing any shocks or other unpleasant repercussions.
